Disney Blu-ray Ads

These are some Ads that Jonathan Slattery, Jan Paul Hoshi Dorr and myself did for a class.
It was called Visual Communications and basically we had to come up with an object/idea, where we could make Ads for to sell. Our idea was for Disney to come out with these ads, to promote their Blu-ray's coming out of the vault, so that people make the jump to Bu-ray from DVD's. These would be posters that you would see at Bus Shelters and places like that.
I really enjoyed doing these, and thanks to JP's Photoshop capabilities, they turned out good.

I'm going to have to give Walt a call, to sell him our ideas.

Rango

Obviously this is going to be good.
The movie poster says everything it has to and shows everything it has to, to be good.

The Illusionist

Not a popular type of animation these days. But by far my favorite kind, other than Stop-Motion.
Good ol' Classical Animation.
If Toy Story 3 didn't come out this year, I think this would win the
Academy Award for Best Animated Film.

Your Highness

I can't wait for this film. It's gonna be like Pineapple Express for the most part, almost like an unofficial spin-off... James Franco plays the perfect stoner.

My Discovery Project

This is my final piece for my Discovery Project.
The whole reasoning behind the class of "Discovery Project" is to do something your not sure of and/or that you might be interested in and want to learn more about. Or the complete opposite, you don't think you will ever have a chance to do something like it again. The majority of the mark comes from the process (Script, Storyboarding...etc) Basically showing how I got to the finished product, which is the above link. I really enjoy Stop-Motion Animations, especially Claymations. So I decided to do this. It was all self directed, we had 2 months to start and finish it. We had 4 of our instructors their to help at anytime also. I believe the entire Discovery Project class was very useful to me, because I did find out more about it and after making my own myself, I learned that I will never do one by myself. I would love to make another, but just creating everything, not actually, physically putting it together. I enjoyed writing my story, editing it all and basically creating the image in my head. I would love for someone to create the character I create in my head and the set because I think it would come out a lot better.
Enjoy.

I'm so happy to be back home for Christmas.
Best feeling in the world.
It'll actually be a White Christmas.
Not a wet one.

The Beatles: Stereo Box Set

I finally bought my Beatles Box Set
It was on sale on Amazon
So i couldn't resist this time.
Can't wait for it to arrive in the mail.

"Fearless"

A cool photo of this "Fearless" cat.
I just found it on a site I regularly visit.

Film Collage

My Film Collage
I made it for my Art & Creativity Term 3 Final Assignment
It's movie stubs from the first movie (Toy Story 3) that I watched when I arrived in Vancouver all the way up to (127 Hours) which was the last & final completion of the "Film Slate" shape,
which was made out of cardboard. The background is all of the movie posters from all of the films that I've seen during that period.

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale

A Finish (Country) Anti-Christmas Film.

The Fighter

I'm not the biggest Christian Bale fan, nor am I really a Mark Wahlberg fan for that matter but this movie looks so good. I can't wait to watch it. Christian Bale dropped 30lbs for his role. I love when actors totally transform for a role. Total transformation... can't wait.

I'm Still Here

I just bought my copy of this movie. I actually won passes to go to the premiere when it came out. I got my passes and that was when my apartment was evacuated. So I missed it. I was pissed. But now that it came out on Blu-ray I had to buy it. It was a long time coming. It didn't disappoint, I was very impressed with it and got exactly what I wanted from it. Entertainment.
The only thing I would have enjoyed more is that if I was able to attend the premiere, I still didn't know if the documentary was fake or not. But now when i watched it I knew it was just a mockumentary after the big reveal from Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck.
Anyways i really enjoyed this movie. And I will be watching it a lot more.

The biggest thing that I want to see come from this film is, well now that everyone knows Joaquin Phoenix was acting. Basically for the past 2 years for this role. He deserves to be nominated for an Academy Award at this years Oscars. Like so many people have said, "It's a performance of a lifetime."

The Original Christmas Classics

Coming to me very soon. I am going to purchase this limited edition pack. I loved Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. One of my favourites. Good ol' stop-motion animation. Nothing better.
And now that I am currently doing my own stop-motion short, this could be great inspiration!

My Self-Portrait Collage

This is my self portrait collage made from cut out tiny squares of magazines. It is still my favourite project that I've done at VFS. I put a lot of effort into it and I think it payed off. I love the final look of it.
This was the most intense project. Sleepless night after sleepless night trying to finish it.
Enjoy.

Half-way done. Eyes were the hardest part.
Class Presentation Day
Completed. About 30+ Hours of labour.

Quarantined

A shot from right outside my apartment building

This was when my entire apartment building was quarantined for a week. We had no access inside for that entire week, all I had was the clothes on my back. I had to bunk at a friends house for 2 nights. Thanks JP. And on the 4th day they finally put me and my roommate up in a hotel with meal vouchers. Thankfully. It was such a pain. More of a nuisance than anything. No school books or anything. Luckily they were very understanding. All in all it was a very stressful situation. No big deal now, just luckily it's all over with.

Children of Men

THE DEFINITION OF A PERFECT MOVIE
I just watched this movie again tonight, and it keeps getting better and better every time I watch it. Especially with everything I am learning in film school, when I watch films now, I start to notice different things. The director, Alfonso Cuaron does such a good job with the cinematic's. The entire car ambush scene, is something that I have never seen before. It's brilliant. Children of Men to me is the definition of a perfect film. I am now very interested in seeing more of Alfonso Cuaron's work. I loved how he filmed it.
Peter Travers named Children of Men the 2nd best movie of the decade, just behind There Will Be Blood.
Here is the link to his list of the Best Movies of the Decade
Children of Men has to be one of my favourite movies, especially with me enjoying it more and more every time I watch it. I recommend this to anyone & everyone.

My First After Effects Animation

The Walking Dead

It's been so long since I've anticipated a television show. And now that The Walking Dead is 3 episodes in, I'm hooked. It was the highest ever series premiere for AMC, beating Breaking Bad & Mad Men. Something like 5 million viewers, and it's been holding strong every week.
New episodes are on Sunday's @ 10PM (Pacific)

My Inspiration Posters

Artist Statement:
Music:
“We’re All Just Waiting to Die”
-Dallas Green

My inspiration for this quote comes from not wanting to be just another pea in a pod, per say. I don’t just want to sit back and wait for death to come to me. I want to go out in the world and fulfill my dreams. I only live once, so I would like to accomplish all of my dreams. Life is too short to sit back and go day after day just getting by or not doing something that I love.

Artist Statement:
Tim Burton:
“One Person’s Craziness is another Person’s Reality”
-Tim Burton

My Inspiration for this comes from the mind of Tim Burton. I believe he has a vision that is unique and like no one else. I also do believe he is a bit crazy, but crazy in a good way. I think you have got to be crazy to be unique. The average Joe doesn’t get noticed unless he wants to be. I believe I have uniqueness side to me that other people don’t understand or could replicate. I am a bit crazy and have been told that by everyone who knew me growing up. I just believe I am in the right business for myself and that I can contribute a lot with my own visionary uniqueness.

Meat & Bread

Best food recommendation I've ever received. Their menu is very small but their sandwiches are to die for. They have their three regular sandwiches that they always have; Porchetta, Grilled Cheese & Meatball. But they always have a special that changes everyday.
I was lucky enough to go when shaved lamb was the special. It was very good.

And then you have an option of salad or soup. The best part is that it is all man-made daily. Very backwoods. Very good.

It's located @
370 Cambie Street

Babybird - Unloveable

My friend gifted me this song on iTunes many months ago knowing that I am a huge fan of Johnny Depp and that he was the guest guitarist for the recording of this song. The song is amazing in it's own right and now just this morning he sent me the link to the music video which I didn't see yet. It was very well done all around and is a perfect fit to the song. Oh yeah and the video is also directed by Johnny Depp. The Man has a great vision.

Antichrist

So I just got my copy of Antichrist on Blu-ray. Finally. I seen it for the first time about a year and a half ago-ish. And it's been in post-production for a very long time. And it took a very long time to get distributed onto video. It was just released this past Tuesday. And i went down to HMV, which just happens to be the biggest HMV in Western Canada and their website said they had copies in stock, but nope. So I got them to check if any of their other stores had copies ACTUALLY in stock. And they said that only Calgary did. Luckily for me my friend was flying in from Calgary tonight. And I got him to pick me up a copy before he boarded his plane and now I got my copy! Oddly enough he was the first person to show me the film actually. I don't know if I should be recommending it, but I really like this film. It stars only two actors Willem Dafoe (He) & Charlotte Gainsbourg (She). Their acting was highly praised for the film and writer/director Lars Von Trier's vision is very unique. I really enjoyed it. I have never seen any of his earlier work, but now I would love to check them out.
Here's a link to view the trailer.

127 Hours

I can't wait to watch this film. It has already hit theatres in the States (November 5), but us folk in Canada have to wait until November 19th for it to come to Canada, which really sucks. This is one of my most anticipated film of the year, others being The Social Network, which did not disappoint me at all. Black Swan which is out December 3rd. And True Grit which comes out on Christmas. So November 19th is marked on my calendar for 127 Hours. I can't wait.
Below is a a link to a video blog by my favorite movie reviewer and the only movie reviewer that I really trust.
I watch his video blogs every week & I think we share the same views on films. Obviously.
